J &L Underground Animal Rescue Strikes Again!

Animal #7 has been taken from the streets of San Antonio and rehomed in Austin. Her name is Juicy and she is a fuzzy-wuzzy doll. Next one up? A black lab named Sara needs a new home too. She will be #8. Woosh! Donations can be made to Animal Trustees of Austin, or to Jenny Wilson's Tooth Fund.

Chocolate Cake, Cookies, and a Caprese Salad

Working food...because I am at a coffee house working...

Jenny Update: Spring Break is moving onward, leaving me having to re-adjust and re-situate for the rest of the semester. This next bit of the semester has some fun planned. It is AERA convention in Denver and Reading Retreat to Port Aransas for the sand festival. Im looking forward t both. I have placed my house for sale with a real estate investor, which is a bit scary but gets me out of it with the payments being made. I'm still not sure what the next year will hold. I might be here one more year in order to pay off bills, or be teaching in Austin, or New York, or a vagrant. Who knows? But life moves on, with or without us, right? I went to Austin last Saturday and Sunday and shopped with Diane. I got a couple cute tops and a darling dress. It is so nice to walk in and have any size 16 fit-just some look better than others, and its not about something being too tight. Platform shoes are back in and sundresses are everywhere, so it will be a good summer for me if I want new clothes. Logan and Karen came in from Houston on Monday and Tuesday and we visited Shamu and the sea lions. Anita, Drea, and Thomas joined us. It was darling to see Logan (age 5) looking up to, hugging, and enjoying having another Hispanic boy (age 11) to look up to. We also visited the Witte Museum to see the dinosaurs. Such fun! Loretta is here in SA for the week in attempts to escape SXSW in Austin, so she cooks, feeds and walks my dogs, and is good at just hanging out with or without me. I adore having her around and miss having this like I did when I lived next door. I am having back issues currently which might derail a trip home to Dallas over Spring Break, but I am trying to remain optimistic (sorry mom). Thinking about the traffic on Sunday while coming home makes me wince. Maybe in a week or so.

Pupdate: Mitzie is doing okay. She is very skinny, but still plays ball and walks on her walks. She still has the occasional puppy look and ball play too. She is my little lovey girl, that's for sure. She has tests again next month. I get happy to think there will be another month. Zoey is nuts and continues to be my love monkey. She sits on the back of a chair and guards the house from all the kitty and squirrel predators that want to take it from her. Cita is loud and obnoxious. She is also in a state on constant shed. The furminator is about to hit the deck running.

So, there you have it. Love to you all, from us all.

6th Animal Rescued from the Streets of San Antonio

Over the last couple of years, I have saved 7 animals from the streets of San Antonio. and that's not including Carmencita, MitzieMouse, and Willow who were also my adopted babies from other homes. As for the San Antonio luckies: My mom kept Lilly (a white pitbull bischon mix), Salt, (a white cat who went to Loretta's hair dresser), Zoey (a schnoodle who stayed with me), KiKi (a black tortie cat) whom Loretta kept, Teddy (a red/golden sir-mix-lot dog) who was adopted from a student of mine, and now a blonde shih tzu who just arrived at her new home in Austin with a lovely girl named Leia. That's not including the one that I found twice whose owner came to get him. That's a dog or cat every 4 months and isnt including Carmen, LillyPlease people, spay and neuter your animals AND get them micro-chipped!
